Imagine a whole week just for ‘YOU’

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THIS RETREAT

LEADING UP TO THE RETREAT

As soon as you pay a deposit (US $500), your spot is guaranteed on this retreat. You will then have the opportunity to pay off the remainder gradually or pay the remainder in full on 26 February.

We will have a few catchups prior to the retreat. The first one will be online three months prior to travel, which will cover any questions you may have and provide further information about visas, vaccinations, what to bring etc.

The next catchup will be in person at Driftwood studio in Mt Eliza 6-8 weeks prior to travel. This will be an opportunity to meet the other women coming on the retreat and ask any other questions you have. We will also go through some surf exercises/stretches to help prepare you... if you wish to surf or learn to surf on the retreat. This is a great catchup and a fun way to connect with each other and help you feel more comfortable before you even reach the retreat... as you will have met most of the women coming.

PREPARATION FOR THE RETREAT

There is no specific preparation needed, however, if you are interested in surfing, we recommend that you do some strength/mobility training in the leadup. This will definitely help you on the retreat. The stronger and fitter you are on arrival, the longer you will last in the surf and the more likely you will be able to stand up on your board:-)

We will provide you with a program that you can slot into your calendar. We will also forward a video on how to practice a pop up on land in preparation for doing it on a board. EVERYONE on our last retreat stood up on their boards due to the gentle waves and knowledgeable surf guides.

GETTING TO THE RETREAT

We recommend that you fly to Bali on 25th April and stay the night before flying to Lombok the next morning. The Lombok flights are around $113 each way. Once you arrive in Lombok mid morning, we will meet you at the airport where we will be transported via car to eastern Lombok and jump on a private boat to Sumbawa.

The boat ride is around 1 hour in duration and you will be dropped (tide dependent) straight onto the beach in front of our retreat.

The return will be the same. We will be picked up by the boat and transferred back to Lombok and on to the airport (1-1.5hours) via car. You can book a flight back to Melbourne that night or spend another night in Bali and fly back the next day... or stay on and extend your holiday:)

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE RETREAT

This will be an unforgettable trip shared with other amazing women!

On arrival, you will be welcomed by the beautiful staff at the retreat with a fresh coconut, lunch and you will be shown to your room. There may be an afternoon water activity depending on the weather/tide, which will allow you to wash off your travel fatigue.

A welcome circle later in the afternoon will allow you to get to know the other women on the retreat a little more and find out more about your week ahead. This will be followed by a relaxing yin yoga for those interested and some time to settle into your new environment.

Sumbawa is a remote and fairly untouched paradise so what you don't take with you, you won't find over there... except the basics like toothpaste, sunscreen, insect repellent etc. You really don't need much as the idea is to unwind, switch off and get back to nature.

The itinerary is fairly full so there will be plenty to do but you are welcome to take part in as little or as much as you desire. It doesn't matter if you don't want to try surfing or do yoga or any of the other activities as you can take part in other activities or just enjoy some time to relax.

Below are a few example days but Sumbawa is remote and several of our activities are dependent on the elements... so we tend to set the schedule for the next day at dinner the night before. This way we can take weather and tides into consideration. Below are a few example days. P.S. Sumbawa is 2 hours behind AEST so 6am is 8am back home.

SURFING

It doesn't matter if you don't want to learn to surf or surf on this retreat. There are plenty of other activities on offer ...or you may choose to enjoy sitting on the beach or relaxing back at the retreat. The conditions are perfect for learning if you are a beginner as the waves are gentle and the water temperature is 30 degrees. You will have both a surf guide and surf instructor to help you find your confidence. This is the ultimate learn to surf experience as there will likely be no others on the waves except our group. The local surf guide will help by pushing you onto the waves to get you started. The waves are also suitable to surfers who are already able to ride a wave (intermediate) but would like to improve the pop up, turning and even walking the board (if you are a long boarder).

YOGA AND MEDITATION

There will be one yoga class offered daily. Depending on the other activities planned, it will either be a more energising vinyasa yoga flow to start the day or a beautiful relaxing yin yoga at the end of the day to help you wind down and stretch out the muscles. You will also have the opportunity to experience meditation and visualisation during the week.

WIFI

There is wifi at the retreat but reception isn't good in the rooms. It is better in the open air restaurant and surrounding area. We encourage our guests to have a digital detox for the week but ultimately this is up to you. What we do know is that if you allow yourself this luxury, you will go back feeling rejuvenated and like you have been away for a month!

This may mean just checking in once a day to make sure there is nothing urgent back home. We encourage you to let everyone back home know that you will be off air for the week and maybe have a set window each day that you check in with family.

FACILITIES AND ACCOMMODATION

The retreat is an eco-friendly resort surrounded palm trees, lush green forests and long white sandy beaches. The resort is right on the waters edge and has spectacular views over the water at sunset from the open air restaurant. Goats and local cows often stroll past.

We will be the only guests staying at the retreat apart from the owners. The restaurant is open to locals at lunch and dinner but usually quiet and often just our group.

The bungalows are air conditioned, clean, set amongst the palm trees at the back of the property and each has a private ensuite. This is not 5 star accommodation but the rooms are clean and have their own authentic character. There is no hanging space so you are encouraged to bring simple clothes and ones that you are happy to leave folded.

All rooms are single share, plus there are two two-bedroom villas that have a shared bathroom and lounge area, so are perfect for friends that want to share.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

The food is simple, organic and sourced from local villages and areas. All dietary requirements can be catered for as long as we know in advance. There will be plenty of food on offer as surfing and other activities in the tropical environment will likely induce a healthy appetite.

This retreat is not about restriction so you are welcome to have a coffee, tea or glass of wine/alcoholic bevearge if you choose to. The idea is about moderation and being mindful around enjoying one or two glasses... instead of 6:) This is your retreat so you can tailor it to your liking.
